Mr Wong Kwok-chung

Local famous artist, Mr Wong Kwok-chung, has been very active in promoting glass art in Hong Kong and has been teaching glass art classes at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre. He is also the advisor of the Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Visual Arts and advisor of the Hong Kong Glass Art Development Society.

2011-2012

Contemporary Art Glass in Asia - Cultural Exchange Program
With the assistance of Mr Wong, the Committee collaborated with Kaleidoscope Studio and the Hong Kong International Hot Glass Association to present this cultural exchange programme. Several influential glass artists in Asia were invited to display their masterpieces and attend an art forum on PolyU campus. Professor Zhuang Xiaowei of the Fine Arts College of Shanghai University was kind enough to donate his magnificent work Simplicity IV to PolyU as a gift.

Open Air Glass-blowing Workshop
Thanks to Mr Wong, PolyU presented the first outdoor glass-blowing workshop in a campus-wide carnival “Global Connection” in 2007. It was staged again on campus as one of the PolyU International Week programmes in 2012.
