From 1 to 6 August 2026, the 4th International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing Technology (JIMSE 2026) & Youth Scientist Conference was held at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The conference was organised by PolyU and co-organised by multiple supporting institutions, including the National Rail Transit Electrification and Automation Engineering Technology Research Centre (Hong Kong Branch), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hangzhou Technology and Innovation Research Institute, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China Jiliang University, and Zhejiang University.
The conference was chaired by Prof. Lin Li of The University of Manchester, Prof. Yi-Qing Ni of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Prof. Gang Xiao of China Jiliang University, and Prof. Zhi-Feng Liu of Hefei University of Technology, while Prof. Jian-Rong Tan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Zhejiang University, served as Honorary Chair. The 2026 JIMSE Young Scientist Award was presented to Associate Prof. Han-Heng Du of Beihang University and Associate Prof. Bo Zhang of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
Four internationally renowned scholars were invited to deliver keynote speeches, including Prof. Jian-Rong Tan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Zhejiang University; Prof. Shi-Bin Gao, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Southwest Jiaotong University; Prof. Lin Li, Foreign Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at The University of Manchester; and Prof. Zuan-Kai Wang, Associate Vice President (Research) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The conference attracted nearly 100 experts, scholars, young researchers, and industry professionals from universities, research institutions, and enterprises in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and overseas. Under the theme “Advanced Manufacturing, Digital Intelligence, Green Technology, and AI,” the conference featured an opening ceremony, an award ceremony, keynote speeches, invited presentations, student presentations, laboratory visits, and a University-Enterprise Symposium.
The discussions covered a broad range of topics, including AI-powered manufacturing, green and low-carbon manufacturing, new-generation global manufacturing networks, strategic emerging industries and ecosystem cultivation, laser processing technology, computer-integrated manufacturing, aerospace systems and technology, advanced CNC technology and equipment, high-performance machining and intelligent equipment, rail transit engineering, and applied materials engineering.
The conference provided a high-level platform for academic exchange and collaboration in advanced manufacturing, further promoting interdisciplinary integration and cooperation among advanced manufacturing, rail transit, intelligent equipment, laser processing, robotics, and materials engineering.
