Under the bright and vast heavens, the momentum of culture shines forth; the Hong Kong River surges, carrying a Tao that bridges East and West. Standing at this pivotal hub where Eastern and Western civilizations converge, the Confucius Institute of Hong Kong (CIHK) raises the banner of "Propagating the Tao and the Arts, Perfecting Others and the Self." Our aspiration is to inherit the pure lineage of Chinese civilization and integrate the quintessence of global human cultures.
As the Book of Changes teaches, "By observing human culture, one transforms and perfects the world." We deeply recognize that Confucius's path of "Ren (Benevolence) and Li (Rites)" is not mere relic of ancient texts. Rather, it is the key to navigating civilizational dialogue and the beacon of wisdom to unlock the puzzles of contemporary development.
Planted deeply in the fertile soil of Hong Kong, we draw strength from the classics. We gently guide the wisdom of "Do not do unto others what you do not want done to yourself" and the magnanimous spirit of "Harmony in diversity." Simultaneously, we embrace the spirit of the times, aligning the investigative pursuit of "Investigating things to acquire knowledge" with modern scholarship, allowing traditional culture to be reborn through its dynamic collision with global thought.
By the shores of Hong Kong, we stand not only as a "terminal" for cultural inheritance but as a "window" for mutual learning among civilizations. Here, we aspire to build a bridge spanning mountains and seas—making China's excellent traditional culture the root for Hong Kong compatriots to nurture their love for family and nation; the bridge for international friends to truly understand China; and the bond that unites shared human values.
