The Department of Architecture (ARCH) successfully participated in the PolyU Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) Build a Smart City Competition 2026. This meaningful initiative invites secondary school students to develop innovative solutions for a smarter and more sustainable Hong Kong. The competition was organised by FCE and supported by the Smart City Consortium.
Following a two-day workshop on 26 June and 3 July on covering Smart City concepts through professional talks and practical activities, the Competition’s Presentation Day took place on 14 August 2026 on the PolyU campus. A total of eight teams presented their projects through their detailed proposals, oral presentations, and physical models. The students demonstrated excellent creativity, strong teamwork, and a thoughtful engagement with issues relevant to the future of the built environment. The event provided an invaluable platform for participants to translate their conceptual ideas into tangible design responses while sharing their visions directly with industry professionals.
ARCH extends its sincere appreciation to all participating teams for their dedication and outstanding effort throughout the competition. The Department also wishes to thank the panel judges for generously contributing their time, expertise, and constructive feedback, which ensured the Presentation Day was a highly rewarding learning experience for the students.
The event will conclude with the official Award Presentation Ceremony, scheduled to be held on 10 October 2026.
