A.I. for Social Good: 無人機 x人工智能物件辨識工作坊暨比賽

A.I. for Social Good: Drone x Object Recognition Workshop cum Competition is a joint initiative developed by the Department of Computing and Service-Learning & Leadership Office of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in AY2022/23. In this project, 190 PolyU students formed in teams to conduct workshop on A.I. object recognition, machine-learning and drone operation with block programming for youngsters in Hong Kong and South Africa. After completion of the 10-to-12-hour workshop, youngsters participated in the competitions in teams to showcase their programming skills for a drone flying mission and presented their original ideas on A.I. object recognition x drone application for social good.

由香港理工大學(理大)電子計算學系與服務學習及領導才能發展處合辦,於2022/23學年舉行。當中190名理大學生分成小組教導香港及南非青少年人工智能物件辨識、機器學習、無人機操控和編程的知識。青少年完成十至十二小時的工作坊後,以小組形式參與比賽,從中展示如何以編程操控無人機完成飛行任務,並就無人機與人工智能物件辨識的創新應用方案進行匯報。

 

 

Competition Details 比賽詳情

The competition consists of two parts, the A.I. National Park Service Ranger, and the Future Developer for A.I..

比賽設有兩個部分,分別為國家公園巡邏任務,及人工智能的未來應用

Each team needs to program the drone to fly within the designated area of the miniature National Park and recognize the animals, visitors, and suspicious people with corresponding signaling as far as possible when flying. Points will be awarded for each successful recognition. Each team has a maximum of three flying attempts. The best score out of the attempts is used for final marks calculation.
各組需要編程無人機在國家公園指定範圍巡邏,期間儘可能辨識公園內的動物、觀光客及可疑人物,並發出相應訊號。成功辨識目標就能得分。各組有三次巡邏機會,當中所獲的最佳分數會用作計算總分。

Each team needs to present an original and creative idea on how A.I. object recognition and drone can be applied for social good in daily life and make a positive impact to the community. Originality and creativity, relevance, and presentation clarity are taken into consideration for assessing their performance.

各組需要發揮創意,無人機與人工智能物件辨識為題,構思一個能應用於日常生活、造福社會的創新方案,並進行匯報。匯報內容的原創性、關聯性及清晰度將為評核準則。

A total of eight to nine target objects are placed around the national park, each carry 20-30 points

Terms and Conditions 計分細則

If multiple teams score the same, the rank is determined following these priorities:
(1) the one who complete Part I with fewer attempts wins;
(2) the one who complete Part I using less time wins

如參賽組別的總分相同,則按下列準則決定相關組別排名:
(一) 第一部分巡邏次數較少者勝;
(二) 第一部分巡邏時間較快者勝
