Programme Description:
The Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (SLCE) Exchange Programme is funded by the Lee Hysan Foundation. The objective is to develop students’ global citizenship and social responsibility beyond the service-learning requirement through an immersive service-learning (SL) exchange experience co-organized by renowned universities in the United States.
Eligibility:
Current PolyU full-time undergraduate students who have passed a service-learning subject with at least B+ or above.
Prioirty will be given to non-final year and local students.
Scholarship:
Selected students will receive a scholarship to cover basic expenses (e.g., visa, travel, accommodation and board).
Selection Criteria*:
a) For shortlisting:
1. Academic performance
2. Service experience and non-academic achievement
- Overall academic performance
- Academic performance within the SL subject
- Performance and role in previous community services
- Contribution to PolyU’s service-learning programme outside of their subject
- Other non-academic achievement
b) For selection:
1. Submitted application
2. Selection interview
- Understanding of service-learning and social responsibility
- Commitment to service and social responsibility
- Evidence of interpersonal and academic competency
- Potential for future leadership as a Service-Learning Student Leader and Ambassador
*In cases where candidates have equal merits on other selection criteria, preference would be given to those with financial needs.
