Summary

Abstract
Carbon fiber reinforced polyetheretherketone (CF/PEEK) is widely used in aerospace, automobile and premium-end medical fields. However, its traditional dry machining requirement is a significant limit to improving machining efficiency and surface quality. To address this issue, high-speed dry machining technique is first imported in cutting CF/PEEK. This presentation summarizes the recent work of high-speed dry cutting CF/PEEK, focusing on cutting mechanism, surface integrity evaluation and process optimization methods. It highlights that the high-speed dry cutting CF/PEEK is feasible with smaller cutting force, lower cutting specific energy, higher material removal rate, and better surface roughness and fractal dimension than traditional dry machining.
