Career Expo 2026

On 27 March, the SHTM hosted Career Expo 2026, which offered both undergraduate and postgraduate students a valuable opportunity to learn more about prospective employers in the hospitality and tourism sectors.

This year, 42 leading companies participated in the Expo, representing an exciting mix of local organisations and international hospitality, catering, and tourism brands. Their exhibition booths buzzed with conversation as the students learned about their management trainee programmes and future career prospects.

Celebrating A Decade of Excellence: 10th Anniversary of the MSc in International Wine Management Programme

In honour of the 10th anniversary of the MSc in International Wine Management (IWM) programme, the SHTM hosted a special celebration on 22 March. This event brought together 46 alumni and current students to celebrate a decade of achievement, growth, and impact in the area of wine education.

Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders Through Mentorship

Since 2002, the SHTM has paired full-time hospitality and tourism students aspiring to build careers in these industries with seasoned professionals who can provide tailored advice and guidance. On 7 March, the Outstanding SHTM Student Mentor & Mentee Award Presentation Ceremony cum Luncheon Meeting 2026 brought together more than 210 mentors, mentees and faculty members to kick start the new mentorship cycle.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

On 19 March 2026, Vatey Mean, a final-year student in the BSc in Hotel & Tourism Management (Event & Experience Management) programme, received the Outstanding Student Award, School of Hotel and Tourism Management 2025/2026 at the Presentation Ceremony for the Outstanding Student Award and Presidential Student Leadership Award 2025/2026.

Ms Waikin Wong, Senior Regional Director Asia Pacific, International Congress and Convention Association and Mr Evan Li, Market Development Director visited the SHTM and Hotel ICON.

Prof. Haiyan Song presented the latest visitor arrival trends and forward-looking projections for the Asia-Pacific region in the context of a complex and evolving global economic and geopolitical environment at the PATA webinar "Asia Pacific Tourism Outlook 2026–2028: Growth Under Global Uncertainty" on 26 February 2026.
