Pioneering Entrepreneur William Heinecke Honoured with the SHTM Lifetime Achievement Award
The SHTM is delighted to announce that Mr William Heinecke, Founder and Chairman of Minor International PCL, was inducted into the SHTM Gallery of Honour on 16 May 2025. On that day, he also received the esteemed SHTM Lifetime Achievement Award at a gala dinner held in his honour.
SHTM Successfully Hosted the 21st Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism

Organised by the SHTM, the 21st Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism (APF) was held from 14 to 16 May 2025 at the School in Hong Kong. Continuing a proud tradition, a group of talented SHTM undergraduate students from the Practice of Special Events Class managed the forum as their final-year project.
SHTM Unveiled a Large Language Model-based Tourist Satisfaction Index to Enhance Tourism Service Quality in Hong Kong

As tourism, a major pillar of Hong Kong's economy, gradually recovers from the pandemic, the government has planned a series of measures to promote all-round development of the tourism industry. Within the SHTM, the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism (RCdTT) has developed an innovative large language model-based (LLM) assessment framework, the Hong Kong Tourist Satisfaction Index (TSI), for evaluating satisfaction among inbound tourists to Hong Kong during 2012–2024 across different tourism-related sectors, temporal scales and regions.
CHE Workshop Offers Professional Recognition to Hospitality Educators

From 10 to 13 May 2025, the SHTM hosted a Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) workshop, which led to professional recognition of the participants. The workshop was led by Dr Fred Mayo on behalf of the School and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute, with assistance from apprentice Dr Maroun Aouad and Dr Jason Kelly.
IMPACT2025: Transforming Hospitality and Tourism for a Sustainable Future

The SHTM and the Research Centre for Digital Transformation of Tourism are organising the IMPACT2025 conference in collaboration with the Co-Star SHARE Centre. This conference will be held in Hong Kong from 7 to 9 December 2025.
Undergraduate Student Research Competition @ IMPACT2025

The Undergraduate Student Research Competition aims to showcase undergraduate students' theoretical knowledge and research skills and to extend the frontier of their knowledge in hospitality, tourism, events and other related fields.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

On 3 April 2025, Miss Cathy Sun, a final-year student in the BSc in Hotel Management programme, received the Outstanding Student Award, School of Hotel and Tourism Management 2024/2025 at the Presentation Ceremony for the Outstanding Student Award and Presidential Student Leadership Award.

Ms Maja Križmančič, Director of the Public Economic Institute of Protocol Services, Government of the Republic of Slovenia visited the SHTM and its facilities.
