LI Xun

My name is Li Xun, and I am a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Marco Pang. After graduating from Beijing Sport University with a bachelor’s degree, I was admitted into the MSc in Rehabilitation Sciences programme at PolyU. With a strong devotion to exploring the unknown in rehabilitation science and a pure, sincere heart to help others, I decided to conduct in-depth studies and practice continuously at PolyU, which has a high reputation in the field of rehabilitation and abundant resources for doing research.

My PhD project aims to study the changes in brain activity during dual-task walking and the effects of structured cognitive-motor exercise on individuals with stroke.  Foundational knowledge regarding neural mechanisms that underlie functional deficits is critical for understanding how the treatments we provide to address the deficits work. Such knowledge can be used to help match patients to treatments (i.e., inform “precision medicine” decisions), as well as to inform strategies for making the existing treatments more effective.

Medicine adds years to life; rehabilitation medicine adds life to years. I hope my research can benefit more people in need.
