I am Jackie, currently studying an MPhil with my research project titled “Investigating low-energy laser photobiomodulation’s effects on neurogenesis and depression-like behaviors”. My bachelor’s degree in biological sciences was completed at Edinburgh Napier University. After working in the academic field for a few years, I decided to study my MPhil at PolyU. It is to be expected that PolyU will play a critical role in neuroscience research in the very near future. PolyU is also comprised of a wide variety of departments and facilities that enable me to conduct research within the campus more efficiently.
My research focuses on evaluating low-level laser irradiation (LLLI) as a treatment using two established animal models with depression-like behaviors and mapping out the mechanisms underlying it. Hopefully my research will help people with depression and emotional disorders to regain their health and happiness.
