【Tencent STEAM for Good "Love . Innovate for Happy Ageing" Design Competition Successfully Held】
Organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Tencent STEAM for Good "Love . Innovate for Happy Ageing" Design Competition was successfully held on January 10, 2026. The event attracted teams from primary schools, secondary schools, and the open category. Its aim was to deepen participants’ understanding of the needs of elderly people living alone or as elderly couples in Hong Kong, and to encourage the design of age-friendly technology products tailored to their actual circumstances, helping seniors maintain physical and mental well-being.
As a supporting organization, the Research Institute for Smart Ageing (RISA) also set up a booth at the venue to showcase the world’s first lightweight intelligent fatty liver detection device—FattaLab®, and provide information about swallowing difficulties. The booth recruited relevant participants and attracted many inquiries from seniors and community members.
The smooth running of the event was made possible by the enthusiastic participation and support of various organizations and attendees. In the future, the organizers will continue to promote innovation in gerontechnology, working hand in hand with the community to build a healthy and friendly environment for the elderly.
