Landlink and Smart Construction Site Management

Lead
PolyU red_08 Prof. LI Heng
Department of Construction Management and Intelligence

Research led by Prof. Li Heng has advanced digital transformation in the construction industry through the development of Landlink, an easy-to-deploy wireless network that enables reliable and seamless communication on constructions site, and a total 4S (smart site safety system) solution comprising smart devices (e.g., watches, personal protective equipment, cameras), AI-empowered algorithms for data processing and analysis and a smart construction site management platform.

Landlink and the advanced 4S solution have driven rapid adoption across the industry. Within the first year of launch through a University start-up company, contracts worth a total of HK$30million were secured. The applications have strengthened the safety monitoring and management on construction site through real-time surveillance and early risk detection, enabling rapid response to potential hazards.

The technologies have accelerated the adoption of advanced technologies in the industry in line with the Government’s initiatives, and have been further extended to support broader use, including sports management in Malaysia and mining operations in Australia.
