Efficient optimization is critical for large-scale supply chain management. Our researcher developed novel algorithms to create a highly efficient ‘solver’ for linear problems that involve millions of variables and constraints. This solver has underpinned the global system of supply chain management of a ICT and smart device leader, saving hundreds of millions of RMB annually. It has also been extended into their internal human resources management system.
The technology has also been commercialized for external markets and delivered measurable operational benefits across a wide range of industries, including a 10% reduction in ship turnaround times at Chinese Mainland’s second largest port, and alleviating congestion while enhancing passenger experience at one of the three largest airports in Chinese Mainland.
