Prof. Dai Jiyan’s research team work on improving medical ultrasound transducers which are devices that use sound waves to generate images of human organs and tissues for medical diagnosis and treatment. The team has collaborated with China’s largest ultrasound instrument manufacturer on product enhancement and the development of new transducers.
The collaboration has underpinned the development of new transducers and improvements to the existing products, with combined sales over HK$20 million over the past years. The research team has also delivered expert training to the company’s R&D team. Through the partnership, the company has strengthened its R&D capabilities and enhanced its international competitiveness.
