香港理工大學（理大）致力推動醫療創新與跨學科卓越研究，在最新一輪的醫療衞生研究基金（2023年度）中，共有25項研究獲支持，旨在應對迫切的健康挑戰並促進病人福祉，合共獲資助港幣2,291萬元。
這些項目涵蓋多元醫療議題和需要，從先進診斷技術、復康訓練和管理、創新的心理健康治療方案、以至照顧者支援和以社區為本的護理模式等，充分展現理大於多個學系的跨學科研究實力，包括生物醫學工程學系、食品科學及營養學系、醫療科技及資訊學系、語言科學及技術學系、康復治療科學系、護理學院及眼科視光學院。
理大學者致力將先進科技應用於醫療創新，研究項目包括：利用人工智能進行單細胞監測，以早期偵測感染相關的血栓；引入沉浸式虛擬實境技術，針對輕度認知障礙症長者的認知刺激治療；以及開發流動健康平台，以支援產後抑鬱及兒科病症管理等。
此外，多個研究項目聚焦於轉化醫學應用，包括：用於評估肝癌放射治療的磁共振指紋技術（Time-resolved MRF）；針對源自塵蟎且在人類微生物群中發現的新型巴通體細菌（Bartonella bacterium）進行多組學分析；以及針對急性泌尿系統毒性反應的個人化預測等。另有多個項目專注慢性疾病管理與復健治療，如中風後疲勞、膝關節炎、上肢運動功能恢復等介入方案。
除了推動臨床進展，獲資助項目更彰顯出對社區參與及整體福祉的關注，包括：緩減長者孤獨感的介入措施；創意藝術治療對前列腺癌患者心理健康的影響；針對糖尿病護理的人工智能互動平台等。
透過這些項目，理大持續推動跨學科合作，把科研成果轉化為具影響力的解決方案，回應患者、照顧者及醫療人員的多元需求，從生理、心理及社會層面全面提升長遠健康成效。
醫務衞生局管理的醫療衞生研究基金，旨在建立科研能力，鼓勵、促進和支援醫療衞生研究，透過建構並應用從本地醫療衞生研究所得、以實證為本的科學知識，協助制訂醫療政策、改善市民健康、強化醫療系統、改進醫療實務、提升醫療護理水平及質素，以及推動在臨床醫療服務方面取得卓越成就。
