Summary

The 12th Advanced Training Seminar in Smart Cities series held online on 11 April 2022 and it was jointly organized by Survey & Mapping Office, Lands Department, and Department of Land Surveying and Geo-informatics (LSGI) and the Research Institute for Land and Space (RILS), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Prof. Xiaoli DING, Director of RILS, Chair Professor of Geomatics in LSGI, hosted this Seminar, entitled "Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) for Urban Environment Sensing", with around 300 participants attended online.

The purpose of this training was to provide an introduction on the principles, key data processing algorithms and limitations of SAR, InSAR, D-InSAR, and TS-InSAR.  Prof. DING also shared various applications that adopted the SAR technologies, including high resolution DEM production, geological research, height mapping and the monitoring of deformation of terrain and infrastructure.
