[Media Interview] Why High-Performing Firms Are More Willing to Switch Suppliers: Unpacking Psychology of Environmental Decision-Making

Prof. Mike Lai Kee-hung, Co-Director of the Research Centre for Environmental, Social, and Governance Advancement (RCESGA), Associate Dean (Academic Programmes) of the Faculty of Business, Interim Head of the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, and Chair Professor of Shipping and Logistics at PolyU, recently published a commentary in HK01.

In the article, Prof. Lai discusses how environmental performance influences supply chain decisions. He highlights that firms with strong environmental performance are often more willing to seek new, greener suppliers and pursue supply chain upgrades, while firms facing environmental challenges tend to focus on improving existing supplier relationships. The article also explores how managerial attitudes toward risk and opportunity shape sustainability-related decision-making.
