In the newly released Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026, PolyU saw six of its subjects break into the global top 100, reinforcing international recognition of the University’s academic excellence.

 

Most notably, Business and Economics rose to 25th in the world, securing the number one ranking in Hong Kong.

 

Other disciplines also achieved notable global and local standings. They include:

 

  • Engineering, 43rd globally (3rd in Hong Kong)

  • Social Sciences, 52nd globally (Joint 2nd in Hong Kong)

  • Computer Science, 70th globally

  • Arts and Humanities, 77th globally (3rd in Hong Kong)

  • Physical Sciences, 99th globally

  • Medical and Health, 3rd in Hong Kong.

THE World University Rankings by Subject evaluate the performance of universities worldwide across 11 subject areas using five core pillar criteria: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.
