Biography
Mr Cheung Leong is Vice President (Administration and Development) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Before joining PolyU, he served as the Chief Strategy Officer of the Exchange Fund Investment Office at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He was the Executive Director of Charities & Community at The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) from 2014 to 2022. In this capacity, he was also the founding co-chair of the Hong Kong Chapter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network.
Prior to his service in public institutions, Mr Cheung was the Operating Partner of Bain Capital, Managing Director of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain at Esquel Group, the founder and CEO of an education focused internet venture, and a senior consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
Mr Cheung is a social entrepreneur outside of work. He is the co-founder of RunOurCity, an innovative social enterprise with the aim of transforming life through running. He currently serves as the chairperson of the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He was a visiting academics in the St. Antony’s College of the University of Oxford in 2022.
Mr Cheung graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration and obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.
