Try out the wireless projection to Smart Panels in classrooms

41 classrooms in the University have been deployed with prevailing Smart Panels for class activities. Staff and students can share the screen of their notebooks / mobile devices with others via Smart Panel in the classroom with a few clicks.

Data analysis and dashboard reporting tools

Two webinars planned in February covering data analysis with R programming language and Shiny software as dashboard tool. Students interested to gain basic knowledge of data analysis using R programming language and required technique in presentation of findings via dashboard tool for research project / coursework assignment are encouraged to enroll.

Online workshops for students in February

A list of workshops covering practical use of MS Excel, video editing and game development tools will be made available in February. Students who are interested are welcome to join. If you are new to video editing and looking for video editor that is easy to learn and quick to apply, you should attend the coming online workshop 'The Art of Video Editing'.

University Research Facility Management System

University Research Facility Management System (URFMS) has been adopted by UBSN in 2021, URF in Materials Characterization and Device Fabrication (UMF) has started to migrate their equipment from 3 January 2022 onwards to URFMS. Put your PolyU staff/student ID card away from smartphones while using wireless charger

Staff and student ID card has a built-in chip set to support fast reading of encrypted information stored on card from device using Near Field Communication protocol. Wireless charging has become one of the standard features on smartphones as it provides user convenience to charge their smart devices without the need of plugging in a cable.

IT security online training course – Module 19 available for staff

New module of the IT Security Online Training Course for staff is now available on LEARN@PolyU. This module will introduce four different types of ransomware: Crypto Ransomware, Locker Ransomware, Double Extortion Ransomware and Ransomware as a Service.

Updates of Student Computer Centre

Due to the revised assignment of campus space, the third floor of Student Computer Centre (SCC) at Block M will be closed and returned to the University on 1 February 2022. If you plan to use SCC classrooms or informal study space for group project discussion, print hardcopy of document from your phone, please move to SCC 4/F at Block M.
