Antivirus suites to Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) for cyber threats mitigation

For decades, University has invested in Antivirus suites in the hopes of overcoming the challenges of IT security. Antivirus software offered a means of blocking known malware by examining or scanning files as they were written to disk on a computer device. If the file was “known” to the Antivirus scanner’s database of malicious files, the software would prevent malware file from executing.

IT skills workshops for students

A list of workshops covering IT skills for Future of Work and Research will be conducted in October. Workshops cover video production, gaming and VR application development, data analysis and visualization with R and Python. Students who are interested are welcome to join.

Software tools on Student HPC Platform

Student HPC Platform consists of CPU cluster and GPU cluster for students to leverage for computing applications related to project/ research assignments. With additional computing resources, new job queues have been made available to allow more concurrent student use.

On-campus AI-900 Certification exam in October

With excessive student demands for taking AI-900 Certification Exam, three extra on-campus exam sessions will be held in October. Students who interested to gain basic knowledge on Artificial Intelligence and enriched own CV with AI fundamental certification are welcome to complete the online learning and take the exam.

Archive aged messages from your O365 Inbox and Sent Item folders

If your O365 Inbox or Sent Item folders filled with large volume of messages over a lengthy period, you will experience performance degradation in synchronizing messages to either your Outlook client on desktop or mobile. Sizeable mailbox content also runs higher risks of data corruption.

Messages sent from external source reminder

A number of phishing messages impersonated as sender of senior members of PolyU academic community and requested message recipients for urgent help such as buying money gift card and revert the card no and use passcode. This type of phishing attack normally display the name of staff member as sender but the real sending address is from external source.

New round of Hyperledger Fabric courses opens for registration

A series of courses on Hyperledger Fabric has been organized in August to enrich students’ knowledge on Blockchain technology. With overwhelming response, the Hyperledger Fabric courses will be re-run in September and October.
