Data breach incident at online food ordering website

Stay-at-Home economy has become the “new normal” under the COVID-19 pandemic. Online shopping and online food delivery services are in high demand recently all over the world. Unfortunately, Delivery Hero, the parent company of ‘foodpanda’, recently confirmed data breach after their customer data had been posted on a dark web forum.

The security incident is reported to have exposed personal information of over 720,000 customers across 14 different countries and locations including Hong Kong. The leaked data, some even dating back to 2016, is containing name, delivery address, phone number and hashed password.

Although the case is still under investigation please take following measure if you have user account on ‘foodpanda’ website to order food with delivery service online.

  • Immediate change your account password on ‘foodpanda’ website. If you use same login name and password in other services, please also update respective password as well.
