Congratulations to Prof. K.L. Yung on being awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star 銅紫荊星章2015
Congratulations to Professor Yung Kai-leung, Associate Head of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, PolyU, on being awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2015. The award was in recognition of his distinguished achievements and significant contributions to scientific research, particularly in machine design, automatic control systems and space technology. Dedicated to space instruments development over decades, Prof. Yung has participated in many international space missions and is an expert member appointed by China National Space Administration's Lunar Exploration Programme Centre for the third phase of China's lunar exploration programme. He has been involved in missions such as the “Mars Rock Corer” for the European Space Agency’s “Mars Express” Mission in 2003, the “Soil Preparation System” for the Sino-Russian “Phobos Grunt” Mission in 2011, the “Camera Pointing System” for the second phase of China Lunar Exploration Mission in 2013, and the “Sampling and Packaging System for Chang’e 5” in 2017.
