2017/18 Stakeholder Engagement Highlights

PolyU’s 80th Anniversary Celebrations

In 2017, we celebrated the 80th Anniversary of PolyU by sharing our many achievements and progress with our stakeholders through a number of public activities. Under the theme “Proud of PolyU ‧ Proud of Hong Kong”, a series of forums and lectures, celebratory events, community programmes and knowledge and technology transfer initiatives were held throughout the year – ensuring the engagement of our students, staff, alumni, partnering organizations and the wider community.

Engagement Sessions on Reducing the Use of Disposable Plastics on Campus

Given the rising awareness of the adverse environmental impacts of disposable plastics, we conducted a series of stakeholder engagement sessions to collect ideas and opinions on the subject. We received a flood of ideas and suggestions from students, staff and hall residents. After consolidating all the feedback, various measures were introduced to encourage the campus community to reduce their reliance on disposable plastics.

Campus Sustainability Survey

A campus-wide Campus Sustainability Survey was conducted in March and April 2018 to collect views from our stakeholders on our sustainability initiatives and our environmental performance. The survey results were analyzed and stakeholders were satisfied with PolyU’s environmental performance. In response to this survey, the University has pledged to continue to modernize the campus and innovations in leverage information technology to create a smart campus and optimize work practices to ensure all work are carried out in a secure, environmentally-friendly and sustainable manner.
