In FHSS’s clinical placement programme, each student worked at one of the institutions in cities in Chinese Mainland. Students had to be willing to empathise and adapt in order to understand and work smoothly with the staff and patients. Working in unfamiliar surroundings in a different culture also helped the students to refine their interpersonal, language and communication skills, as well as hone their clinical skills and awareness of professional and ethical issues associated with different clinical practices and expectations.
