FHSS's Support for Residents Affected by the Tai Po Fire: Call for Further Action
Plan for Providing Sustained Care
Indeed, since the tragedy, PolyU has acted swiftly to stand with those in need: our nursing and social worker teams have mobilised staff, students, and alumni to deliver on-the-ground practical aid (supplies distribution, targeted care for vulnerable groups like the elderly and people with disabilities) and immediate counselling support to ease trauma.
These initial efforts lay the foundation for our long-term commitment to walk alongside survivors—and moving forward, we will expand this support with holistic, specialised care, leveraging the multidisciplinary strengths of our community (including nursing, rehabilitation sciences, social work, and related fields) and calling on staff, students, and alumni with relevant expertise to join our efforts. At present, we are actively preparing a series of suitable support initiatives, and further details will be announced on our Faculty website in due course. Once concrete project plans are in place, we will invite faculty members, students, and alumni with relevant experience to join our support team and work together to aid the community’s recovery. Please stay tuned to our Faculty website for the latest updates.
