Bachelor’s Degree Scheme (BDS) students can explore various disciplines before choosing a Major after their first year of study. After completing the Faculty Common First-Year Curriculum (FCFC), students must prioritise all available departmental scheme/stand-alone programme choices for an iteration process that will place them into a specific departmental scheme or stand-alone programme (refer to as “scheme/programme” hereafter). Once iteration results are confirmed, students may: 
  • Choose a Major (mandatory for and exclusive to students in departmental schemes).
  • Choose a Secondary Major (which may be mandatory or optional, depending on the confirmed Major). 
  • Choose a Minor (optional).
  • Join a Fast-track Programme (optional).

 

Students who study in any of the following programmes are considered BDS students:

  • Faculty of Business (FB)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Business Administration (Programme Code: 02426)
  • Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FCMS)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Computer and Mathematical Sciences (Programme Code: 09401)
  • Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Construction and Environment (Programme Code: 04404)
  • Faculty of Engineering (FENG)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Engineering (Programme Code: 05409)
  • Faculty of Humanities (FH)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Humanities (Programme Code: 03405)
  • Faculty of Science (FS)
    Bachelor’s Degree Scheme in Science (Programme Code: 01402)

  • All students within a Faculty follow a common first-year curriculum, regardless of their specific schemes/programmes.
  • It provides a broad foundation of knowledge.
  • It helps students make informed decisions about their future Major.
  • You are encouraged to seek guidance from your Academic Advisor when choosing a Major or exploring additional study options.

 

It is a competitive allocation process for placing students into schemes/programmes based on:

1.  Their choice preferences.

2.  A ranking score determined by the following factors:

  • Entrance qualification score*:
    The University will assess your score based on your main admission qualification.
  • Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA): 
    The CGPA after Semester Two of Year 1 will be used.
  • Interview score: 
    A Faculty-based interview will be conducted in Semester Two of Year 1 as part of this process.

* For students admitted based on Non-Academic Achievements, only the CGPA and the interview score will be taken into account (subject to approval).
