Objectives:

This project aims to adopt a multidisciplinary collaborative approach to applied and workplace learning, including:

  1. support for applied learning developments by providing a resource centre for different applied learning approaches, and workshops/online resources to support teachers as facilitators of learning;
  2. support for students, and related staff, adopting innovative learning methods by providing a generic programme to introduce and prepare them to meet the requirements of the learning approach;
  3. the use of electronic support systems to facilitate tripartite communication for workplace learning;
  4. extending interdisciplinary collaboration both within the faculty and with collaborating agencies; and
  5. support for workplace learning innovation and quality.

Remarks:

The central team reflected regularly on the progress of the project and adjusted the programme and scheduling as necessary. It is felt by the central team that the project has achieved its objectives and, has in fact, has taken some of the aspects beyond the project expectations. Thus there is a strong interest in to expanding and building on these outcomes through a future project. Having a strong and cohesive central team meant that, despite the loss of one of its members, the project could carry on successfully.
