Undergraduate Pre-Placement Modules

Description

The undergraduate pre-placement modules were developed through the use of an online case-based learning approach and the e-Scholar's T5 model offered by the Educational Development Centre. Initially, two programmes, each with one seminar and three online tasks, were produced exclusively for preparing occupational therapy students to go out for placement.

The programmes were revised to three online learning modules - namely, "Making a learning plan", "Infection control" and "Ethics in the workplace: Sexual harassment" - to suit the common interests of all health and social care students and were placed on the project website: http://www.polyu.edu.hk/appliedlearning.

The Project Team has offered the online learning module about sexual harassment to the Student Affairs Office and the Committee on Education about Preventing Sexual Harassment.

Intended educational value

These modules were produced exclusively for preparing occupational therapy students to go out for placement.

Evaluation/Comments

Students found the tasks useful for revision prior to their fieldwork placement.
