Applied Profession-Related Integrated Learning (APRIL)/ Work-Integrated Education (WIE) Seminar Series

Description

This seminar series, which included eight seminars, ran from 11 May to 4 December 2007 in collaboration with the Educational Development Centre. Six of the seminars were offered by APRIL experts who shared their experience, good practice and expertise in applied learning. These six seminars were:

  1. "Open forum on WIE"
  2. "Preparing students for placement 1 – using learning contracts and cases"
  3. "Negotiating with learning providers to optimize students’ learning opportunities"
  4. "Supporting students for work placements through computer-mediated learning environments"
  5. "Aligning generic learning outcomes, assessments and curriculum for work-based learning"
  6. "Supporting student learning via self-reflection in placement".

Evaluation/Comments

The seminars were attended by 90 PolyU faculty members, including staff from 23 different departments. The participants generally appreciated the opportunities to discuss their current practice and share good practice in small groups.
