The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) follows a multi-dimensional and systematic process of planning, starting with a Strategic Plan every six years (which is the focus of this document), a Planning Exercise Proposal every three years for submission to the University Grants Committee (UGC), and an Annual Strategic Planning Forum every July. This multi-dimensional planning approach allows PolyU to take a strategic and holistic view of both its short-term and long-term challenges and opportunities, aiming to maximise the University%u2019s achievements within the constraints of its environment and resources.The planning process for the University%u2019s Strategic Plan for the six-year period of 2025/26 to 2030/31 commenced with four rounds of consultation sessions held in May 2023, engaging staff, students, alumni, and Senate Members respectively. These sessions aimed to establish the groundwork for the strategic planning process. Council Members were also invited to participate in these sessions. During these consultation sessions, the President presented an overview of PolyU%u2019s accomplishments over the past four years and shared his insights on the opportunities and challenges for the University%u2019s future development. In November 2023, the Strategic Planning Task Force was formed, comprising members of the PolyU community, with representation from staff, students, alumni, and the University Council and Court. The Task Force was entrusted with assisting the President in developing the Strategic Plan for 2025/26 to 2030/31 and conducting consultation exercises.
