Prof. Wong Wai-yeung, Raymond was elected as the Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society (FCCS)

Congratulations to Prof. Wong Wai‑yeung, Raymond, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Clarea Au Professor in Energy, and Chair Professor of Chemical Technology, on his election as a Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society (FCCS)!   Established by the Chinese Chemical Society in 2019, the FCCS selects no more than 50 fellows annually. It aims to encourage members to pursue excellence in scientific and technological innovation while advancing the sustainable development of China’s chemical industry. As the highest and most prestigious membership grade of the Chinese Chemical Society, this fellowship recognises scholars who have made systematic, original, and impactful contributions to chemistry and its interdisciplinary fields, as well as outstanding service to the advancement of the chemical sciences.   This prestigious honour is a strong testament to Prof. Wong’s distinguished academic leadership, pioneering research achievements, and exceptional contributions to the development of chemistry. Warm congratulations to Prof. Ge Jingjie, Assistant Professor of ABCT, on receiving the PolyU Young Innovative Researcher Award 2026

Warm congratulations to Prof. Ge Jingjie, Assistant Professor of ABCT, on receiving the PolyU Young Innovative Researcher Award 2026!   PolyU has announced the recipients of the Young Innovative Researcher Award (YIRA) 2026, recognising six rising scholars for their outstanding academic research achievements. Now in its fifth year, the award honours young researchers under the age of 35 with exceptional potential, supporting them in pursuing high-impact, interdisciplinary research. By providing dedicated research funding and personal recognition, the award empowers recipients to advance forward-looking research, translate academic findings into practical societal applications, and grow into future leaders in global research and innovation.   Prof. Jingjie Ge (ABCT) – Award-winning Project: Designing Low-cost, High-efficient Anodic Catalysts for Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Production Her research focuses on the atomic-precision design of low-cost nanocatalysts to enable large-scale green hydrogen production through water electrolysis, paving a new way for sustainable energy development.   Once again, heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Ge Jingjie! We look forward to her leading the team to keep breaking new ground, achieving more remarkable results in cutting-edge research, and contributing further innovative strength to green energy and sustainability.

Congratulations to Prof. Zheng Zijian on Appointment as Vice President (Knowledge Transfer)

Prof. Zheng is currently Director of the PolyU-Daya Bay Technology and Innovation Research Institute, Associate Director of the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems, Associate Director of the University Research Facility in Materials Characterization and Device Fabrication, and Chair Professor of Soft Materials and Devices. As a leading scholar in manufacturing technology and materials science, Prof. Zheng has also founded several PolyU startups and brought substantial management experience in knowledge transfer and innovation.   In his new capacity, Prof. Zheng will steer the planning and implementation of the University’s strategic agenda in translational research, knowledge transfer, technology commercialisation, entrepreneurship and stakeholder engagement. He will oversee the Jockey Club Design Institute for Social Innovation, the Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office and the Mainland Research Units, and foster a dynamic ecosystem by deepening strategic partnerships with industry, government, academic and community stakeholders, particularly in the Chinese Mainland and the Greater Bay Area. Awardees of the President’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement 2025 from the ABCT Department

Congratulations to the awardees of the President’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement 2025 from the ABCT Department: Individual Award (Knowledge Transfer: Industry): Prof. Zheng Zijian Team Award (Teaching): Led by Prof. Terence Lee, with team members: Prof. Clarence Wong, Prof. Mu Quanhua, Dr. Chartia Cheung, Dr. Clare Yan, and Dr. Wong Wai-ting. The President’s Awards recognize Prof. Zheng Zijian’s significant contributions and impact on knowledge transfer, Prof. Lee and his team’s remarkable efforts in instilling an innovative mindset in our students. Their guidance led to the students’ outstanding performance at the International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition in Paris, earning a Silver Medal and an Impact Grant in 2023, followed by a Gold Medal and a Top 10 Undergraduate Team ranking worldwide in 2024. Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards 2025

PolyU Science scholars received Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards 2025 from Ministry of Education

Congratulations to Prof. Zheng Zijian, Associate Director of the Research Institute for Intelligent Wearable Systems and Chair Professor of Soft Materials and Devices, for receiving the Second-Class Award in the 2025 Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Natural Sciences and Engineering Technology) from the Ministry of Education.   Prof. Zheng received this honor for his research project titled "Multiscale Coupling Regulation Mechanisms of Flexible Electronic Conductive Interfaces and Applications." His research group focuses on tailoring surface properties and functionalities by precisely manipulating surface topography and chemistry.   Please join us in congratulating Prof. Zheng Zijian and his group on this well-deserved recognition!   Source: PolyU Science scholars received Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards 2025 from Ministry of Education | Faculty of Science
