We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Wang Lianzhou, Chair Professor of Energy Materials in the Department of Chemistry and Hong Kong Global STEM Scholar, on securing substantial grant support under the Research Grants Council (RGC) Theme-based Research Scheme (TRS) 2026/27.

Heading a groundbreaking interdisciplinary initiative titled “Intelligent Artificial Photosynthesis”, Prof. Wang and the team have been awarded approximately HK$48.83 million to spearhead AI-driven green fuel innovations.

The project centers on establishing an advanced catalyst high-throughput design platform capable of harnessing solar energy to convert carbon dioxide into storable clean fuels, such as methanol. Alongside this, the research team will engineer modular solar fuel panels designed for real-world deployment under natural sunlight. By integrating artificial intelligence, advanced chemistry, and precision engineering, this pioneering venture aims to expedite the transition toward carbon neutrality, reinforce clean energy security, and translate cutting-edge scientific discovery into scalable commercial applications.

Once again, congratulations to Prof. Wang and his team on this outstanding research achievement!
