We are thrilled to celebrate Prof. Michael KWONG, our distinguished alumnus of the BSc in Chemical Technology (Class of 1996), on receiving the prestigious 2026 Outstanding Alumni Award at both Faculty and Departmental levels.
Prof. Kwong’s remarkable academic journey began at PolyU, which laid the foundation for his distinguished scientific career. In 2001, supported by the prestigious Croucher Foundation Fellowship, he pursued postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Driven by a deep commitment to give back to the institution that nurtured him, he returned to Hong Kong in 2003 to rejoin PolyU, where his work was defined by exceptional rigor and scholarly excellence. His high-impact breakthroughs have since earned him prestigious recognitions across the region, including the 2013 Croucher Senior Research Fellowship and his 2020 election to The Hong Kong Young Academy of Sciences. Today, Prof. Kwong continues to shape the future of chemical education and research in Hong Kong, serving as the Head of the Department of Chemistry at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
