On 16 June 2026, FCE hosted a Public Lecture titled “The Architecture of Housing, a Dutch perspective”, delivered by Prof. Dirk VAN GAMEREN, Professor of Architecture and Housing Design, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). The event drew around 30 participants, including students, alumni, and FCE academics.

During the insightful lecture, Prof. Van Gameren discussed how rapid global urbanization, rising inequality, and climate change have brought housing design back to the forefront of architectural practice and education. By exploring the evolution of traditional spatial and material patterns, he demonstrated how contemporary architects can design housing that honors deeply rooted human needs while addressing future challenges. The lecture concluded with a lively Q&A session, sparking a fruitful exchange.
