“Architecture and Built Environment” secures top spot in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026

This year, FCE has once again achieved outstanding results in the newly released Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject 2026. Leading this year's achievements, FCE’s performance in Architecture & Built Environment remains highly competitive on the global stage, ranking 21st internationally and 2nd in Hong Kong. The Faculty also made remarkable local gains, with two other subjects ascending to the number one spot in Hong Kong. Notably, Civil & Structural Engineering climbed from second place locally last year to an impressive 1st in Hong Kong, while securing 18th place globally. Environmental Sciences successfully maintained its premier standing, ranking 1st locally and 34th worldwide.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are widely recognized for their comprehensive assessment of global higher education institutions, evaluating key dimensions such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. The 2026 edition benchmarked the performance of over 1,900 institutions across 55 academic subjects and five broad faculty areas, utilizing rigorous metrics including academic and employer reputations, citations per paper, the H-index, and international research networks.

This sustained success is further bolstered by the upcoming establishment of the Department of Architecture on 1 July 2026, which will reinforce FCE’s long-term commitment to research excellence and underscores its vital contribution to cementing Hong Kong’s status as a premier global hub for higher education.
