Centre supports HKMCA in promoting the concept of “Sustainable Retirement Lifestyle”
The Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies has long been committed to promoting active ageing through innovative research and knowledge transfer. Recently, the Centre’s “Multi-dimensional Retirement Planning Framework for Active Ageing” has been referenced by HKMCA and applied in promoting the concept of a “Sustainable Retirement Lifestyle”, further translating academic research outcomes into tangible social impact.
The Framework goes beyond retirement financial arrangements to cover other key domains in later life, including health, social participation, family life and long-term care planning. It aims to help the public effectively respond to the challenges brought by longer life expectancy and enhance their overall understanding of retirement planning.
Professor Bai Xue, Director of the Centre, said: “A holistic lifestyle plan encompassing multiple dimensions is the true key to unlocking a ‘sustainable retirement’. We are delighted to collaborate with the HKMCA to drive the ‘Sustainable Retirement Lifestyle’ concept and support the public in making comprehensive preparations for retirement through multi-dimensional planning.”
We are encouraged to see collaboration between academia and industry in advancing a more comprehensive vision of ageing, enabling older people to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives in later life.
