Ms Mak Ming-huen is a young but accomplished product designer winning the 2021 Red Dot Award: Best of the Best. Having co-founded Waveee Design, she designed with her colleagues the award-winning Poppu Go Chess, a portable and tactile paper-based Go game inspired by Kirigami carvings. It combines board and stones in one and unfolds dimensions within a piece of paper. By distinguishing between the die-cut textures of black and white stones, the sustainable design is also blind or vision-loss friendly. Possessing unique perspective, poetic sensitivity and counter-intuitive skill, Ms Mak is definitely a rising star of the industry.
