The Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Happy Valley area is one of the earliest residential areas developed in Hong Kong. The area is full of history, culture and fascinating stories, which can be a stepping stone to understanding the history of Hong Kong.
 
In this talk, Dr Joseph S P Ting will describe the history of this area with examples of landmarks and people who played a significant role in the development of Hong Kong.

Eminent historian Dr Joseph S. P. Ting, as Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of History from 1995 to 2007, he played a vital part in the planning and implementation of the new Hong Kong Museum of History premises, Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence and Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum. Dr Ting is currently a member of the Culture Promotion Committee, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Honorary Professors, The School of Chinese, The University of Hong Kong and Adjunct Professor, Department of History, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition, he is an honorary adviser to or committee member of a number of local museums and museums in mainland China.
