Achievements

The PolyU Graduate School has announced the recipients of the "Best Research Postgraduate Student of the Year 2025" award, with our PhD student, Ms. ZHANG Weiyi, being named among the three awardees this year.

Guided by Professor HE Mingguang, Chair Professor of Experimental Ophthalmology (SO) and Henry G. Leong Professor in Elderly Vision Health, Weiyi has maintained a rigorous and steady approach to her studies. Her research in "Multimodal Generative AI" seeks to support clinicians in analyzing complex ophthalmic data more effectively. Rather than focusing solely on technical complexity, Weiyi’s work prioritizes the practical application of AI within clinical settings to facilitate early screening and patient care.

Reflecting on the achievement, Weiyi attributes the honor to the supportive environment provided by the School and the invaluable guidance of her mentor. The School of Optometry looks forward to seeing how her continued dedication will contribute to the field of vision science and public health.
