Project Title
Choroidal Hemodynamic and Regional Thickness Changes in Response to Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) Spectacle Lenses

Synopsis

Myopia poses a significant global public health challenge, with a rising prevalence and associated risks of serious ocular complications. The Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments (DIMS) lens has been shown to effectively slow axial elongation in children. However, the mechanisms behind its efficacy are not fully understood. Recent studies suggest that choroidal thickening—likely reflecting hemodynamic changes—may be involved in the control of myopia progression. Regional variations in choroidal response, particularly between nasal and temporal sectors, may further influence treatment outcomes. This study aims to investigate the regional choroidal thickness changes and choroidal capillary hemodynamics in response to DIMS lens wear, in order to elucidate their roles in myopia control and provide insights for optimizing optical design.
