PolyU School of Nursing won the Gold Award at the eLearning Forum Asia (eLFA) 2026

We are delighted to announce that PolyU School of Nursing’s “V-IMPACT-AI - Student-Staff Co-Developed Virtual Immersive Mentorship Prompt-engineered AI for Communication Training” has won the Gold Award at the eLearning Forum Asia (eLFA) 2026 in the Exemplary Teaching and Learning Award category. This student-staff co-developed initiative, created in collaboration with the PolyU Industrial Centre and our nursing students, pioneers a new pedagogy combining immersive VR simulation, prompt engineering, generative AI, and therapeutic communication training. Through personalised, context-rich learning, nursing students strengthened communication confidence, self-efficacy, and AI literacy — demonstrating a scalable model for future-ready education across healthcare and other professional disciplines. A heartfelt thank you to all our students and staff whose creativity, collaboration, and commitment made this possible! Together, we continue to push the boundaries of technology-enhanced learning and student-centred innovation. PolyU School of Nursing Topped at the 2nd International Competition on AI in Education 2026

PolyU School of Nursing is proud to share that Dr Maggie CHAN, our Associate Professor of Practice, collaborated with our industry partners and won the Champion Award at the 2nd International Competition on AI in Education 2026, hosted by The Artificial Intelligence Research and Education Alliance (AIREA) on 15 July 2026. The team leveraged AI and VR to develop immersive learning scenarios for nursing students, therefore fostering their competence and confidence in managing complex clinical scenarios and clinical handover. The prestigious accolade recognizes the team’s commitment to transform nursing education through innovation. PolyU Nursing extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr Chan and the team on this outstanding achievement. We will continue to work with multisector partners to nurture the next generation of compassionate and innovative nursing leaders.

PolyU Nursing won Bronze Award in the QS Reimagine Education Conference 2025

Following the success of the School’s Virtual Hospital, a team* led by Dr Kitty CHAN, Principal Investigator & Associate Professor of Practice; and Prof. Justina LIU, Co-Investigator; which comprises multidisciplinary experts from the faulty, showcased their vCare Multiplayer Interprofessional Metaverse Game in the QS Reimagine Education Conference and they won the Bronze Award in the Nurturing Values and Ethics category.  This innovation stood out among the more than 1,650 submissions for the QS Reimagine Education Awards. Grounded in the Self-Determination Theory, the innovation is created to enable learners to immerse in the multiplayer scenarios within the metaverse to enhance their ethical decision-making, interprofessional collaboration, and patient management. Virtual Hospital [HK Short-term Patent:HK30083446] was awarded the Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Regional Award in 2022. *Team Members: School of Nursing: Prof. Patrick KOR, Associate Professor; Dr Katherine CHANG, Lecturer.
