Learning together for the people we care for

Welcome to the School Learning and Teaching Committee (SLTC) of the School of Nursing. It is a privilege to serve in this role, and I look forward with genuine enthusiasm to working alongside colleagues, students, and partners in the years ahead.

Nursing education is entering an exciting chapter. Around the world, our profession is being invited to prepare graduates for more complex patient journeys, ageing populations, and health systems that are shifting confidently towards community and primary care. In Hong Kong, care is increasingly being delivered closer to where people live, and the settings in which our graduates begin their careers are becoming more digitally enabled and interconnected. Preparing students to embrace these contexts with confidence, clinically, ethically, and interprofessionally, is a shared and energising responsibility across everyone involved in learning and teaching at the School.

Building on our School's strong foundations, the committee's attention is drawn to areas that colleagues have long cared about and that stakeholders are speaking to us about with fresh enthusiasm. These include artificial intelligence literacy for future nurses, learning experiences that reflect the promising direction of Hong Kong's evolving healthcare landscape, interprofessional education, and inclusive education that welcomes students of different backgrounds and needs. As with all such developments, we move forward in step with the University's direction, so that new possibilities can be explored in ways that continue to uphold academic integrity and the care of the people we serve.

The Programme Committees and Student/Staff Consultation Groups will continue to be central to our work. Their participation, ideas, and feedback are invaluable, and we are grateful to the many colleagues, students, alumni, clinical partners, academic peers, and stakeholders who make our learning and teaching community what it is. There is much to look forward to, and much to learn together.
