Dr Chloe Lau attended the IRES – 559th International Conference on E-Education, E-Business, E-Management and E-Learning (IC4E) in Auckland, New Zealand on 5-6 March 2019.
Dr Sangwon Park shared the findings of a study entitled "Travel Pattern Analysis in Local Tourism Destinations and Promotion/Support of Local Tourism Services" with over 30 Korean governors involved in tourism development and governors of other relevant destinations at the "Insights of Travel Pattern Analysis using Spatial Big Data Approach" event in Seoul, Korea on 12 March 2019.
Dr Park attended the 19th Global Travel and Tourism Summit in Seville, Spain on 3-4 April 2019.
Professor Haiyan Song, Professor Cathy Hsu and Ph.D. students Mr Richard Hrankai, Ms Ekaterina Volchek and Mr Jerry Zheng attended the Travel and Tourism Research Association's 2019 European Chapter Conference in Bournemouth, UK on 8-10 April. Professor Song delivered a keynote speech entitled "Asia Pacific Visitor Forecasts". Professor Hsu spoke at a panel session entitled "Education towards Inclusion and Diversity". Mr Hrankai and Professor Hsu presented a co-authored paper entitled "Exploring Multiple Decision Heuristics in Product Attribute Processing: The Case of Hotel Choice". Ms Volchek and Professor Song presented a co-authored paper entitled "Expanding the Concept of Information Service Performance: The Case of Personalisation". Mr Zheng presented a co-authored paper entitled "The Impact of Geographic Diversification on the Relationship between Product Diversification and Chinese Publicly Traded Tourism Firms' Performance".
Dr Tony Tse was invited to deliver a talk on the "Belt & Road Initiative and Great Bay Area Development" in a round table panel at the 3rd edition of the Senior Executive Program for Travel & Tourism Professionals held by IESE Business School, University of Navarra in Hong Kong on 9 April 2019.
Professor Brian King and Dr Markus Schuckert attended a cocktail networking event with representatives of hospitality institutions at Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott Hotel on 10 April 2019.
Dr Catherine Cheung attended "A Memorable Graduating Moment at PolyU" on 24 April 2019, part of a celebratory event held for all non-local final year students, including mainland Chinese students and international students, before they complete their studies at PolyU.
Dr Catherine Cheung and Dr Ada Lo presented a co-authored paper entitled "What Stage is the Smart Hotel Room Technology Adoption among Hong Kong Hotels?" at the 1st International Conference on Smart Tourism, Smart Cities and Enabling Technologies (The Smart Conference) in Orlando, US on 1-4 May 2019.
Professor Kaye Chon attended the 6th World Tourism Forum Lucerne in Lucerne, Switzerland on 2-3 May 2019.
Professor Chon, Professor Haiyan Song, Professor Cathy Hsu and Professor Bob McKercher attended the Bali International Tourism Congress 2019 and the International Academy for the Study of Tourism Biennial Conference in Bali, Indonesia on 6-11 May. Professor McKercher delivered opening remarks and moderated a keynote session on "Global Tourism: Trends and Prospects". Professor Chon delivered a keynote speech entitled "Global Trends and Prospects in Tourism and University". Professor Song delivered a keynote speech with the title "Asia Pacific Tourism Demand Forecasts 2020-2025".
Dr Karin Weber attended IMEX Frankfurt in Frankfurt, Germany on 21-23 May and the EMAC 48th Annual Conference in Hamburg, Germany on 28-31 May 2019.
