SHTM Co-hosts Two International Forums in France and Hawai`i

13th Asia Tourism Forum, Angers, France

The 13th Asia Tourism Forum will be held in Angers, France from 7 to 9 June 2018, jointly organised by the Tourism and Hospitality Management Institute (ESTHUA) at the University of Angers and the SHTM.

The forum is a major biennial conference that has been held over the past 20 years to address important issues facing Asia's tourism industry, particularly as it relates to the development, service management, marketing and sustainability of tourism in Asia and the world.
17th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism, Honolulu, Hawai`i

Co-hosted by the SHTM and the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawai`i, the 17th Asia Pacific Forum for Graduate Students Research in Tourism (APF) will be held at the Hawai`i Convention Centre from 16 to 18 May 2018 in Honolulu, Hawai`i.

Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) Workshop


A Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) Workshop will be held at the SHTM premises from 12 to 15 June 2018. The workshop will be presented by Dr Fred Mayo on behalf of the School and the American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute and will span four days, including the examination.

Career Day 2018




On 16 March, the School hosted its 2018 Career Day, which provided graduate and undergraduate students with the opportunity to gather information about potential employers in the hospitality and tourism industry. Fifty companies set up exhibition booths this year, including local organisations and international chains in the hospitality, catering and tourism industries.

SHTM Enters Strategic Partnership with Dujiangyan City to Develop Smart Attraction Management

The SHTM and the Dujiangyan city government recently signed a strategic agreement to collaborate in the areas of knowledge transfer, tourism planning, tourism marketing, executive development, and leadership and co-ordination to support the city as it develops smart attraction management.

Miss Tsang Ka-po, Lilian, a final year student in the BSc(Hons) in Hotel Management programme, received the Outstanding Student Award, School of Hotel and Tourism Management 2017 at PolyU's Outstanding Student Awards Presentation Ceremony on 26 February 2018.

Ms Kuok Hui-kwong, Executive Chairman, Shangri-La Asia Ltd and Mr Bill Lu, Vice President, Global Talent Management, Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd visited the School and Hotel ICON.
