HNA Hospitality Group Gave Boost for SHTM to
Advance Hospitality Education

The SHTM is pleased to have received an RMB300,000 donation from the HNA Hospitality Group (HNA) for the establishment of the HNA Hospitality Group/Tangla Hotels & Resorts Students Internship Scholarship.

With full support from the HNA, scholarships will be set up for SHTM students undertaking internship in the Group's hotels for three years commencing 2017. This is the first time that HNA has made a donation to the School.

The HNA Group is a fast expanding conglomerate headquartered in Haikou, Hainan, China. Founded in 1993, the Group has developed rapidly and internationally to encompass the core businesses of aviation, hospitality, tourism, real estate, retail, finance, logistics, shipbuilding, eco-tech and entertainment. First-ever MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management Continues

Launched in January 2017, the SHTM's MicroMasters in International Hospitality Management programme is a fresh approach to bridging the knowledge gap between higher education and the workplace. Featuring four courses and offered on the edX platform, this innovative online programme is a credit bearing, accelerated Master's level offering that can stand alone or count towards entry to a traditional SHTM Master's degree. D.HTM Distinguished Lecture Series Promoting Closer Ties between Academia and Industry

The latest Doctor of Hotel and Tourism Management (D.HTM) Distinguished Lecture featured Professor Andreas Papatheodorou, Professor in Industrial and Spatial Economics with Emphasis on Tourism at the University of the Aegean in Greece, who visited the School and spoke about "The Future of Airport Hubs in the Presence of Long Haul Low Fare Airlines - the Case of Hong Kong International Airport" on 26 May 2017. 2017 Hong Kong PolyU Winter School®

The Hong Kong PolyU Winter School® is the SHTM's flagship executive development programme, staged each year to allow senior industry executives to interact with leading educators and practitioners in the field of hospitality. Co-organised by the SHTM and the Hong Kong Hotels Association, the programme will be held on the School premises from 4 to 16 December 2017. Read more

ACHIEVEMENTS AND RECOGNITION

Miss Michelle Au-Yueng, a 2016 graduate in the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Hotel Management programme, won 2nd place in the Young Talents Award based on her thesis entitled "The Antecedents of Brand Prestige in Affordable Luxury Hotels" at the Young Talent Program of the 5th World Tourism Forum in Lucerne, Switzerland on 4-5 May 2017.
