余颂华博士毕业于中国广州暨南大学医学院临床医学专业，取得内外全科医学士学位。随后，余博士在香港中文大学医学院儿科学系攻读研究生课程分别取得临床医学哲学硕士博士学位。她的硕士论文是关于输血（红细胞）对早产儿左心输出量和耗氧量的影响，而其博士论文是关于力量训练和饮食介入对管理儿童肥胖症的效果。她曾参对本港儿童腰围数据和心血管关系的分析研究、 6分钟步行测试和心肺功能测试等研究项目。目前，余博士主要的研究课题包括儿童肥胖症、儿童心肺评估、体力活动与健康、以及为自闭症谱系障碍儿童制定运动方案。
