Biography

Brian is a registered Occupational Therapist with over 30 years of experience in the Hospital Authority, having graduated from the Occupational Therapy Programme at the former Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1989. He earned his MSc degree in Health Care (Occupational Therapy) in 2000 and subsequently completed his PhD in Rehabilitation Science in 2014 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 2017, he was honoured with Fellowships from both the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) and the Hong Kong College of Health Service Executives (HKCHSE).

Before joining the university, Brian served as the Cluster Coordinator of Occupational Therapy and Manager of the Occupational Therapy Department. Throughout his professional career, he has developed extensive expertise in clinical practice, management and teaching, especially in acute and rehabilitation settings. His specialties include medical and geriatric care, with a particular interest in stroke and cognitive rehabilitation. As a certified instructor in Neuro-IFRAH, Health Qigong, and Yang's Tai Chi Chuan, he further enhances his contributions to the field.

From 2007 to 2011, Brian served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since 2017, he has also contributed as a speaker and dissertation supervisor for the MSc program at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

In addition to his clinical and educational roles, Brian is actively engaged in public service. He has served as an expert panel member of the Self Finance Postgraduate Program Committee in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was the Chairman of the Allied Health Information Technology Committee at the Hospital Authority and has been a member of the Clinical Research Ethics Committee at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Additionally, he has contributed as an expert panel member of the Subcommittee of Quality Assurance at the Institute of Health Care, Hospital Authority, and he is also a reviewer for the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy.
