Prof. Billy So received Outstanding Presentation Award at the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025

Prof. Billy So, a member of RISports and Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, has been awarded the Specialty Group Outstanding Presentation Award (International Organisation of Aquatic Physiotherapists, IOAPT) for the abstract titled "Integrating Artificial Intelligence in Aquatic Exercise Applications: The Underwater Analysis System and Wearable Sensors" at the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025, which was held on 29-31 May in Tokyo. Prof. So’s outstanding achievement in swimming technology has been recognised.

East China University of Science and Technology delegates visited RISports

Delegation from the School of Sports Science and Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology and Lux Academy visited RISports on 30 May. Prof. Ming Zhang, Director of RISports, and Prof. Hector Tsang, Chair Professor of Rehabilitation Sciences, discussed the education in sports science and brought them to visit the related laboratories.

RISports welcomed delegates from Shandong Sport University

Yesterday RISports welcomed delegation led by Prof. Lihong Mao, President of Shandong Sport University, and Dr Jim Luk, Head of the Department of Sport and Recreation at Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (Thei). Prof. Ming Zhang and his team introduced our Sports Engineering Laboratory and discussed some research projects we are working on. We look forward to our collaborations in the near future!

On the following day, they participated the Global Sport Al & Robotics Innovation Challenges 2025 Semi-final together at Cyberport.

Dr Savio Woo, International Advisory Committee member of RISports, Distinguished University Professor Emeritus and Founding Director of Musculoskeletal Research Center from University of Pittsburgh, visited RISports today. Prof. Ming Zhang reported the achievement of RISports in previous 3 years and the plan of the 1st World Congress on Sports Science & Technology. 

Celebrating fitness at the 2nd Taichi-Run Competition

Since the inaugural Taichi-Run Invitational Competition in June 2024, this unique and flexible form of running has gained widespread recognition. Last Saturday, the 2nd Taichi-Run Competition took place during the 2025 Biomedical Engineering Day and Alumni Homecoming, bringing together the BME community to celebrate health and wellness.

RISports members met national swimming team coach and star swimmer

Last month, Prof. Billy So, a member of RISports and Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, had the privilege of visiting Mr. Dengrong Cui, coach of the national swimming team, and Ms. Yufei Zhang, the star swimmer who won the most medals at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, in Shanghai. Following this inspiring meeting, they traveled to Hong Kong to connect with Prof. Ming Zhang and Dr. Jason Cheung, director and management committee member of RISports, to explore collaboration opportunities in advanced swimming technology.
